Permanent Makeup

Nothing less than perfect will do!

Permanent Makeup

It does not really matter if you like them arched and feathered or round and bold, eyebrows are without doubt the most important feature of our face. If you are not pleased with the ones that Mother Nature has given you, or you simply want to fully reconstruct, define, cover gaps or fill in over-tweezered brows, then you are definitely in the right place!

I am a highly qualified technician with over 10 years’ experience in the beauty industry. My training was with BIOTEK, the world’s pioneer in permanent makeup technology, with two academies in Milan and Rome and its many certified schools around the world, ensuring its technicians are trained to the highest international standards. Also, I constantly research the newest techniques, equipment, methods and products, attending regular seminars and additional training all over Europe.

Each client is seen as an individual and offered an extensive range of pigments and techniques from natural looking hair strokes, to some more defined, softly shaded, ombre eyebrows. Clients are always assured of having the best experience with amazing results and the minimum discomfort.

Whichever technique you choose, rest assured it will not look anything less than perfect!

Frequently asked questions

  • What is Permanent Makeup

Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation, is a revolutionary method of inserting small amounts of medical grade pigments into the dermal layer of epidermis, in order to enhance natural features.

  • Is Permanent Makeup Safe?

Yes, it is.  This clinic is licensed with Torbay Council and meets strict hygiene and sterilisation protocols.  All the tools and needles are ‘single’ use and are always opened in the presence of the client and disposed of, immediately after the procedure, in a Sharps medical waste container.

  • Who is it suitable for?

Permanent makeup is growing in popularity among many celebrities and women who want to enhance their natural beauty and look polished without having to apply powders or brow pencils.  It is a great solution for sports’ women, as there is no smudging after swimming or working out at the gym.  It saves you time, money and daily frustration.  Your eyebrows will stay on and look terrific, no matter how busy your lifestyle!

Correctly applied Permanent Makeup can take years off your face and lift the whole eye area, giving a more youthful appearance without the need for surgery.  For people with medical conditions, such as alopecia or undergoing chemotherapy, Permanent Makeup is life-changing.

  • What should I do beforehand?

Before any procedure can be done, it is essential to have a consultation and a patch test.  This step cannot be avoided!  We will discuss what is involved and what style and shape you are looking to achieve.  The consultation is free and without any obligation.

Leading up to your appointment, you should avoid tweezing or waxing your eyebrows, ensuring there is as much natural hair as possible.  You should steer clear of exfoliants, any skincare products containing glycolic acid, retinol and alpha hydroxy acids.  You must avoid blood thinners, such as aspirin for 72 hours.  Do not use any products accelerating hair growth, as they contain steroids and may thin the skin.  Give alcohol a miss the night before and caffeine on the day of the procedure.

  • What will the process be like?

Once you are in the chair, some time will be spent mapping and measuring your eyebrows with specialised tools and non-permanent pencils.  This is the longest part of the process and the most important step, which must not be rushed, therefore enough time is allocated to design the best shape and customised colour specifically for your face and bone structure.

The needles used are ‘single-use’ only and the brow area is always disinfected beforehand ensuring safe application.  A numbing cream and liquid anaesthetic are applied to your eyebrows, delivering a pain-free experience, although many clients can go without any numbing agent, describing the experience as ‘slight scratching’.

  • Do the pigments pose allergy problems?

People can develop an allergy to anything at any time.  However, we use the best and purest pigments on the market and reactions to them are considered extremely rare.  Some doctors recommend that people with allergies to conventional makeup have permanent cosmetic procedures instead.

We always carry out an allergy patch test at least 72 hours prior to the treatment and record the full list of ingredients of the pigments used.

  • What is the healing process like?

There is no downtime after Permanent Makeup.  However, we always advise booking your session 7-10 days prior to any important events.

Immediately, after the procedure, you may experience slight swelling, redness and sensitivity.  The initial colour of your new brows will be about 30-40% darker than the healing result, softening to a lighter shade after about 10 days.   If you have chosen the microblading style method, strokes will be sharp initially but will soften and migrate into the skin over time.

You should also keep in mind that different skin types, as well as the method that has been chosen, factor in the results achieved.

Excessively oily,  thick skin and large pores can affect the absorption of the pigment, therefore the soft-shaded ombre method is advised.

Another aspect to take into consideration is that Permanent Makeup is a two-step process and you should not expect to see a completed result after just one treatment. All my prices include a free top-up session.

  • What about aftercare?

You should stay away from makeup and face products on the treated area for at least 10 days.  You must not pick, peel or scratch.  Other things to avoid are swimming, tanning, excessive sweating and exercising for 10 days.  Full aftercare will be provided at your first session.

  • How long will the Permanent Makeup last?

This varies among individuals due to their lifestyle and skin types.  It also depends on the method you have chosen.  It will fade with time but it is very unlikely it will ever go completely away, therefore I prefer to call it Permanent Makeup rather than Semi-Permanent.  It is advised to have a colour boost session every 12-18 months, although some people can go without for 3 years.

  • Can I still have an MRI scan?

Yes, you can.  Numerous studies have shown that even people with extensive body tattoos experience no irritation during MRI scans.  However, it is wise to advise your MRI technician that you have Permanent Cosmetics.
